Claude meets your real data — and finds things you missed. Cowork, Connectors, and why MCP multiplies everything. Five lessons, about 40 minutes total.
Lessons in this chapter
- The Trust Inversion — Drop real data into Cowork and let the machine catch what you couldn’t see. (~10 min)
- Verifiable by Design — Source attribution, audit trails, inspectable reasoning — what makes output trustable. (~5 min)
- Connectors: One Click to Your Data — Drive, Gmail, Calendar — live-data answers with no terminal. (~10 min)
- What MCP Is — The connective tissue — and why one connection becomes five workflows. (~10 min)
- Your MCP Roadmap — Plan the first real connection before you build it. (~5 min)
If you take five things from this chapter
1. Demand verifiability, not vibes. Source attribution, audit trails, inspectable reasoning — if you can't trace the answer to the data, don't act on it.
2. Ask for what's wrong, not just what's there. "Find inconsistencies, errors, or anything unusual" is the prompt that triggers trust inversion on your own data.
3. Start with a connector. Drive, Gmail, Calendar — one authorization click gets you live-data answers with no terminal. It's MCP wearing a friendly name.
4. Grant minimal access, know the off switch. Connectors act as you; review what was touched and disconnect anything you stop using.
5. Write the MCP roadmap now. The system you check every morning is your first real connection — name the source, the tools, and the first three questions.
That completes Depth 2. Before the delegation chapters, take the Structure Review — ten questions across Chapters 04-05.
