Download the Claude app — iOS or Android, whichever you use — and sign in with the same account you used in Chapter 01.
The first thing to notice: your conversations are already there. The work question you asked at your desk, the file you attached, Claude’s answers — all of it. That is not a sync feature to configure. It is how the whole system works: your account is the workspace, and every device is a window into it. This chapter is about what that makes possible.
The app has the same essential anatomy as the website — message box, attachments, history — plus three things that only make sense on a phone:
| Feature | Where It Is | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Dictation | The microphone in the message box | You talk, it types. Your words become a normal text message you can review before sending. |
| Voice mode | The voice icon (waveform) | A hands-free spoken conversation — Claude talks back. No screen required. |
| Camera | The + / attach menu | Photograph a document, a whiteboard, a shelf, a screen. Claude reads what the camera sees. |
Those three inputs — talk, converse, photograph — are why the phone matters. Nobody writes documentation at 9pm at a desk. But everybody explains things out loud all day long, and everybody has a camera pointed at the real world. This chapter turns those habits into capture.
Install the Claude app and sign in. Open the conversation you started in Chapter 01 — confirm it is all there, mid-thought, exactly where you left it. Then find the three inputs in the table above: the dictation microphone, the voice mode icon, and the camera in the attach menu. Don't use them yet. Just know where they live.
While you are in there: turn on notifications. Later chapters (Remote Control in Chapter 06, approvals in Chapter 07) will use them to ping you when Claude needs a decision.
